My name is Sarah, and I’m the owner of Knit Wits Design!

Throughout my life, I’ve been very fortunate to have access to supportive therapies, including therapeutic horseback riding. These experiences helped me build confidence and body awareness, and they played an important role in how I learned to navigate challenges and advocate for myself as I grew older. In 2022, during my final year of undergraduate school, I learned how to loom knit. What began as a creative outlet quickly became something meaningful during a time of transition into adulthood. Knitting provided me with a calming and focused way to develop a skill that felt empowering. As I continued creating, I began sharing my work on Instagram @KnitWitsDesign and selling my creations. I make handmade hats, loveys, stuffed animals, scarves, and all kinds of knitwear. Turning a creative skill into something I could share with others showed me that living with CP can include creativity, entrepreneurship, and nontraditional paths.

This journey has helped shape my understanding of what independence means to me. Adulthood with CP is not about doing everything alone, but about finding the right supports, tools, and opportunities that allow you to grow at your own pace and in your own way. I hope my story shows young people with CP and their families that there are many possibilities for them. With support, creativity, and self-discovery, you can build a meaningful life that reflects who you are.
