CP Awareness Month

As CP Awareness Month begins, I want to start moving beyond looking at awareness at the surface level. For me, that simply means sharing what living with cerebral palsy actually looks like as I grow into adulthood.

CP has always been part of my story. It shows up in how I move, how I pace myself, how I access spaces, and how I advocate for myself. But it is not the only thing about me. I am navigating young adulthood, building projects, working towards independence, and conquering my ambitions and dreams just like anyone else my age.

Awareness should mean more than wearing green for a month. It can mean listening to lived experiences. It can mean thinking about accessibility in schools, workplaces, and communities. If can be striving for better care across the lifespan.

CP Awareness Month is a reminder that we are not static. We are growing up. We are transitioning. We are building lives.

And it deserves more than awareness. It deserves understanding.
